Description
This view shows Main Street, looking north from the roof of the Wise & Kimball Block. On the left, in the foreground is the elegant Farwell Opera House with the H.H. Crie Hardware Store of the first floor. Next to it stands the Tate House which became the Savoy Hotel. Then there are three, small, frame buildings and then Lindsey Street with the tall, brick Lindsey House set back from the corner, and then the white steeple of the Baptist Church. The buildings on the right have all been replaced, and one can see in the distance where the shore of Rockland Harbor comes up almost to Main Street.
