Description

A newspaper photographer captured this school boy with his chalk drawing a police officer firing a handgun.

Gannett Publishing Company newspapers in Maine, such as the Portland Press Herald and Portland Evening Express focused on local news. The papers also featured a large number of photos in their issues. In this example, two areas of particular newspaper interest - schoolchildren and police work - formed an unusual convergence.
