Description
In this photograph, quarry pit foreman A.L. Brown and employee Joe Vainio are guiding a slab of high quality raw slate out of the pit. Because of the strength, durability and color of the slate in the Piscataquis region it was highly sort after throughout the United States.
This photograph was taken at the Barnard Quarry and is the second in a series of nine photographs showing the quarry operations in 1951, which were very similar to those at the Monson quarries.
