Description

Saco’s Main Street is a varied stretch through the town that has been critical to the city’s history and development. Main Street is the site of residences and mansions, some of which have linked the blocks since the 18th century, such as the Solomon Colt House. This postcard depicts a section of the Main Street somewhat removed from the bustle of downtown and shows the elms that lined many of the blocks until they were lost to diseases in the 1970s.

The caption reads, "Main Street, Saco, Maine."

The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1938.
