Description

William S. Brown of the 25th Maine Regiment, friend and neighbor of the Cole family in Sebago, wrote to Benjamin Cole, father of Pvt. Charles Cole, also in the 25th Maine, that Charles had died of his illness.

Brown assured Benjamin Cole that Charles was a good boy and died a Christian.

He said that money was received to pay to have Charles' body shipped back home. He said the body and Cole's effects were on the way to Maine from Washington, D.C., where the regiment was quartered.
