Description

Judge George Thacher house, 208 South Street, Biddeford, 1955. The main portion of this house was built by Judge Thacher about 1784, not long after he moved to Biddeford from Massachusetts. In this home he raised 10 children with his wife, Sarah, and entertained his friend President James Monroe in 1817. Judge Thacher was Maine's first member of Congress, and was present at the inauguration of George Washington in 1789.
