Description

Philip Goodrich came to Brunswick in 1886. He served in Brunswick as Sealer of Weights and Measures for 6 years and served in Topsham for 5 years.

Philip was born in England December 6, 1839, son of David and Melvina Roberson. He was orphaned and adopted at five years of age in New York. He changed his name to Philip Roberson Goodrich. Philip enlisted August 14, 1861, in the 50th NY Engineers in the Civil War as an orderly sergeant and was promoted to 2nd Lt. resigned May 7, 1863. He married and had two children. In 1869 he opened a bakery in Owego, NY, his hometown. He died February 10, 1922.
