Description
Storefront window and display of Dakin Sporting Goods Co. owned by Everett S. "Shep" Hurd and located at 25 Central Street. Founded in 1900 by Eugene Dakin, the store sold a variety of items, including baseball equipment. Schools and clubs throughout Maine bought bats, balls, gloves and other equipment along with other athletic merchandise. Window displays like this one helped promote the items.
