Isaiah Elder, Brunswick, ca. 1900

Description

Isaiah Elder (1854-1933) of Brunswick was the son of and Deborah D. Pennell and Isaiah Elder, a ship master.

His first wife, Abbie E. Curtis, whom he married in 1893, died in 1912. He married Clara M. Parmenter of Portland in 1926.

He worked for Maine Central Railroad in Bangor and then at Brunswick's freight office. He was Brunswick's Postmaster from 1913 to 1921.

Isaiah was well known throughout the state for his activities in the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows.
