Description
Cyrus Hamlin wrote to Thomas Clark of Paris on Jan. 15, 1826 to obtain much needed cloth for the Hamlin family.
He apparently ordered the cloth from a Mr. Mayall with Thomas Clark as the middle man. His friendship with Clark is implied in the half-joking nature of his appeal. He goes on to ask Clark to use his influence in the legislature to help him get the cloth.
The letter is two pages, handwritten. He concludes with a reference to Dr. Chandler who is in poor health and signs the letter, "C. Hamlin" and the date.
Cyrus Hamlin was father of Hannibal Hamlin. Cyrus' wife Anna and several teenage daughters were living at home at this time.
