Bohndell House, Water Street, Thomaston, Maine 2008

Contributed by Thomaston Historical Society

Description

The house built on the north side of Water Street by Henry Bohndell, a ship's rigger who later operated a successful sail making/rigging business, which is active to this day in Rockport. Most of the houses along Water Street were built to house shipyard workers and riggers. These are modest homes built in the first half to mid 19th century in the Greek Revival style of architecture. Many served as boarding houses.
