Description

George Washington Pierce of Portland wrote to his mother, Phebe Pierce of Baldwin, to say that he and his wife, Anne Longfellow Pierce, were back in their own home after his return from Augusta where he served in the Maine Legislature.

He commented that "The potatoes were frozen, and it has seemed as if the house was haunted by the very spirit of Jack Frost, for we have not been able to get warm yet."

He and Anne invite her to visit when the weather improves and urge George's sister Hannah to visit soon.
