Description
A crowd watches from Mill Street in Brunswick as waters from the Androscoggin River lap at the railroad bridge across the Androscoggin from Brunswick to Topsham during the Flood of 1936.
The bridge also, also known as the Black Bridge, carries trains across the tracks at the upper part of the structure and automobiles below. The automobile deck of the bridge is washed away.
The train was on the tracks to keep the upper portion of the bridge stable during the flood.
