George Pierce on geometry, algebra, Brunswick, 1822

Description

George W. Pierce wrote to his brother Josiah Pierce of Gorham, expressing his regret that he could not join the rest of the family in Baldwin for Thanksgiving.

He also wrote that he liked studying geometry, but not algebra. He had previously written to Josiah, an 1818 Bowdoin graduate, that he loved studying logic, but wasn't sure about geometry.

Discussing a friend of Josiah, he wrote, "College is the place to try a fellows talents . . ."
