Penobscot glove box, Indian Island, ca. 1890

Contributed by Hudson Museum, Univ. of Maine

This Penobscot glove box has an unusual decorative curl treatment, apparently used only in the late 1800s.

The basket was made to hold the elbow- or three-quarter-length gloves fashionable at the time.
