Description

Spectators on the water and along the shore wait for the arrival of President Taft at the Stonecliffe estate in Biddeford Pool, 1910. Taft and his party are in the large launch in the center of the image.

President Taft kept the 'summer white house' in Biddeford. This particular event was a ten day cruise on the government yacht the Mayflower. The cruise began in Eastport, stopped in Biddeford July 27, 1910 and ended in Beverly, Massachusetts.
