Description

Ira Pierce Booker (1832-1916) , a native of Lisbon, Maine, was the Secretary to the Board of Overseers at Bowdoin College from July 13, 1869 until June 1891. He was the Treasurer of Bowdoin College from 1895 until June 1913, when he resigned because of ill health.

Bowdoin College conferred upon him the honorary degree of Master of Arts.

A Mason, he was treasurer of United Lodge from 1868 until 1914. He also was one of the first auditors elected by the Town of Brunswick, serving from 1865 to 1907. He was secretary of Pejepscot Historical Society.
