Description
A 1930s-vintage Northrop A-17 attack bomber, was used by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the planning phase the Presque Isle Army Airfield in the summer of 1940. The Corps of Engineers insignia is on the side of the fuselage.
The base opened in 1941 as part of the World War II effort to supply equipment and personnel to Great Britain.
