Description

Louis B. Goodall Residence and Hotel Sanford, ca 1915. This beautiful stretch of Main Street must have impressed visitors to our town a generation or two ago. Unfortunately, the buildings and trees in this photograph disappeared many years ago. The stately elms perished with the spread of Dutch elm disease. Mr. Goodall's house, which stood directly opposite the Goodall mansion, was torn down after the Second World War. The hotel opened in 1888. closed in 1934 and was torn down shortly thereafter.
