Description
This page was removed from a scrapbook. The three items are a clipping from a newspaper about the retirement of Mayor Meigs from a career in banking, with a penned not beneath the newspaper clipping, "A good name is better than precious ointment- prov," a pen and ink sketch of a water scene "by Pierce" and a calling card from Henry W. Longfellow with the note, "Left for me by Mr. Longfellow in Oct. 77 while at Dr. Gray's." The owner of the scrapbook is not known.
