Description
This volume was created by the Plymouth Company as an accounting Waste book, or a temporary diary of company transactions recorded in chronological order before they were transferred to the general ledger.
The records in this bound volume, which relate to colonial land settlement and distribution, were created by the Plymouth Company, also known as the Kennebec Proprietors. This highly influential land company claimed roughly 1,500 square miles on either side of the Kennebec River in the decades before the American Revolution.
