Description

Architecture commission for an unknown client at 85 Bedford Street in Portland, ME, 1946. The commission is associated with John Howard Stevens and John Calvin Stevens II Architects. This item is part of the Stevens Architects drawings and records collection.

The barn, designed by Alexander Parris in 1805, was part of the James Deering Estate. In 1947, Portland architect John Calvin Stevens II remodeled it for use by Portland Junior College. The building was destroyed in 1969 by the University of Southern Maine. .
