Front cover of the program from the play "Candida" performed by a group of actors -some already acting on Broadway - who trained themselves with the hopes of eventually establishing a permanent repertory theatre in New York City. This group of actors were fortunate in obtaining the use of the rustic Surry Theatre in the summer of 1936 where they rehearsed and eventually prepared a season of four slected plays for the summer of 1937.
