Description
St. Paul, Opus 36, was Mendelssohn's first oratorio. It was first performed in Dusselsdorf in 1836, and then in London, later the same year.
The program cover page contains the note "for the first time in Portland." The concert was given on February 5, 1880 at Union Hall, on Congress Street. Hermann Kotzschmar conducted.
