Description

Procinda Merrow's sampler displays the ornate floral needlework found on samplers after 1810. Merrow was born in Bowdoinham in 1818 and completed this sampler in 1828.

The verse she chose to inscribe on her piece refers to her youthful age. "Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand as the first efforts of an infant's hand."
