J.E. Mitchell to Persis Blanchard from Augusta, 1863

Description

Sgt. James E. "Ned" Mitchell of Co. C, 29th Maine Volunteers, wrote from Camp Keyes in Augusta to to Persis Blanchard of Cumberland in November 1863.

Mitchell told Blanchard that he was having trouble with "Father Haven," his stepfather, since his mother died. Mitchell believed she had left him some property, but Haven would not acknowledge it. He said he had engaged a lawyer to look into it.
