Hallowell-built "Topaz," 1828

Description

The brig Topaz in Smyrna Harbor, now Izmir, Turkey. Built by E. G. Pierce in 1828 for K. G. Robinson, it was 193 tons burthen, 85 feet long, 22 feet in beam and had a depth of 11 feet 7 1/4 inches. Stephen Breen was the brig's master. Topaz was one of the 229 vessels launched in Hallowell between 1785 and 1860.
