John Dillingham letter concerning sailing prospects, 1848

Description

On March 31, 1848, sea captain John Dillingham wrote from New York to his wife in Freeport about his prospects of getting another ship to captain. It is one in a long series of letters in which he tries to decide whether to continue sailing.
