While the 1930 McCann was not Bangor's first motorized fire engine it does have the distinction of never having left the City of Bangor. Built in Portland, ME for $10,900 the 1,000 gallon per minute pump Engine 1 gained some fame in 1962 when it was pressed into service to supply water for 96 1/2 hours to the City of Bangor when a water main from Brewer to Bangor broke.
