Description
Bug Island, also known in the 21st century as St. Croix Island, is an island in the St. Lawrence River. It is both part of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne reserve and Quebec. The larger, partially obscured, island to the left is Cornwall Island, also known as Kawehno:ke.
Other designations include Quis Quis or Hog Island, St. Regis Village, St. Regis River, and the Raguette River. This map was likely created between 1817 and 1827, during which time American and British surveyors worked under the Treaty of Ghent's 6th and 7th articles, aimed at creating a formal American-Canadian border.
