Intended for evening, this dolman sleeved mantle (cape-like overcoat) was suitable to wear with the large skirts and bustles fashionable in the period. The waist is somewhat fitted at the back, with pleats that flare out over a bustle.
The pale green damask jacket is trimmed with white rabbit fur. The lining is a quilted cream silk, filled with a cotton batting.
