Collision at the Kennebec riverside, May 18, 1883. This train was heading south from Skowhegan when it collided with another train head on. A fireman who lived in Skowhegan was killed. Many accidents like this happened during this timeperiod because there was only one set of tracks. If a schedule got mixed up, it would result in disaster.
