Description
The bridge connecting Lubec with New Brunswick was dedicated on Monday, August 13, 1962. Named for President Franklin D. Roosevelt, his eldest son, California Congressman James Roosevelt, cut the ribbon before a crowd of 6,000. To Roosevelt’s right is Hugh John Flemming, Federal Minister of Forestry and Revenue for Canada and, slightly behind, Maine Governor John Reed. U. S. Senator Edmund Muskie of Maine stands at Roosevelt’s left.
