Possibly Ammi Whitney (1833-1922) who was born in Cumberland, Maine, the son of Ammi Ruhamah and Hannah (Hall) Whitney. He owned Kendall & Whitney, an agricultural supply store on Federal Street in Portland, and lived at 365 Spring Street, Portland.
