Description

This image is of a commemorative china plate which depicts the National House Hotel. The National House Hotel was an impressive five-storied wood framed building which stood at the corner of Main and Weld Streets in Dixfield in the mid 1800s. A Dedication Ball was held there on July 8, 1857 to mark its opening. By 1900, the top floors had been removed and it became known as the Ione Harlow building.

Note the mis-spelling of ME as MEE on the plate.
