This ribbon was prepared for the members of the Androscoggin No. 2 hand engine company by the Sagadahoc Agricultural and Horticultural Society in 1875. The Society put on the annual Topsham Fair, at which members of the fire company participated in a muster competition.
After being retired from active service in 1919, the Androscoggin No. 2 hand engine was used exclusively in muster competitions around Maine and out of state, many of which it won.
