Description

A busy scene at Greenville Junction Wharf, Moosehead Lake, as passengers board the Katahdin Steamboat for an excursion on Moosehead Lake, ca. 1930s. Rails are in foreground for passenger service of the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad. The Katahdin shown is second of the two steamboats. The first Katahdin was destroyed by fire and the steamboat shown in photo was christened in December of 1913. The Kate as she is affectionately known was used to carry mail, freight and passengers up the lake. She also hauled great booms of corralled logs over the waters of the lake.
