John P. Sheahan, 1st lieutenant of Co. E. of the 31st Maine Infantry, wrote to his father in Dennysville that he might be promoted to captain, He sought his father's advice. Sheahan also expressed lack of confidence in President Lincoln because of his call for more troops and more funds for the war.
