Abner Small writes a tongue-in-cheek letter about his Thanksgiving Dinner of horsemeat and condiments while he was in the U.S. Army.
Further in the letter he comments about the Battle of Bull Run and other regimental matters. Abner Small was a soldier in the 16th Maine Volunteers.
He wrote many letters that have survived and he also kept a diary from his prisoner of war days in a Civil War prison.
