Description
After her April launching, but before her first trip North, the schooner Bowdoin went into dry dock at South Portland to be fitted out with masts, rigging, gear, and equipment. This image shows the schooner's shallow draft and rounded hull shape, which allows her to ride up on the ice, rather than be squeezed or crushed.
