CCC crew shoveling snow, Alfred, ca. 1934

Contributed by Maine Forest Service

Description

Members of the Camp Alfred Civilian Conservation Corps shovel snow on Acton Ridge in Alfred.

Even though the camp, under the direction of the Maine Forest Service, was mainly concerned with insect and disease control of Maine trees, CCC crews carried out other duties, often helping the communities in which they were located during storms or floods.
