Description

George Washington Pierce (1805-1835) wrote from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, where he was a senior, to his brother Josiah Pierce (1892-1866) about their father's illness.

The father, Josiah Pierce (1756-1830), was quite ill, although he recovered. George expressed his admiration for all his father has achieved.

Pierce also discusses what he is reading. He chides Josiah for visiting Emma Dow, to whom Josiah had been engaged. She broke off the engagement.
