Boy Scouts, Portland, ca. 1920
Description
Boy Scouts pose in front of a War Savings Stamps cabin that advertised for people to buy the stamps for the war effort. In addition to selling war bonds and war savings stamps during World War I, Boy Scouts in some places grew food in Boy Scout gardens, distributed literature for the government, collected black walnut for use in propellers and rifle stocks, and collected peach pits used in gas mask filters.
