Crews of 'Yellow Bird' and 'Green Flash,' Old Orchard, 1929

Description

The crews of the French plane Yellow Bird (Oiseau Canari) and the American plane Green Flash listening for weather reports at the Brunswick Hotel at Old Orchard Beach on June 4, 1929.

The two planes planned a transatlantic race and were waiting for appropriate weather conditions. The two planes left on June 13, but the American plane flipped on takeoff, was damaged and could not compete. The French crew made it to Spain.

The Yellow Bird crew are Jean Assolant, Rene Lefevre, and Armando Lotti. The American crew members are Roger Q. Williams and Lewis Yancey.
