Description

Captain Lewis Yancey places food in The Pathfinder, a Bellanca 225 H.P. plane, as Thea Rasche, a German aviatrix, watches.

The plane is on the line at Old Orchard Beach, at the starting point for its attempt to cross the Atlantic on July 8, 1929.

Yancey, the navigator, and the pilot, Roger Q. Williams, were successful in their flight across the ocean less than a month after losing the Green Flash in a crash at takeoff at Old Orchard.
