Stanza 6 of Longfellow's poem

Description

This verse, copied by Longfellow in 1875 from his poem composed in 1845, speaks of George Washington during the American Revolution. It hangs in a second floor front bedroom below an engraving of Washington. The Longfellow House was Washington's headquarters from July 1775 until April 1776, during the Siege of Boston.
