As part of Presque Isle's celebration of its centennial of settlement in 1920, a banner across the street reads "1820-1920."
The Bolton Block in the center of the photo was built in the 1890s and burned in the 1930s. It was rebuilt with a similar architectural flavor as the original but without the turret. It again burned in 1943.
The last fire took the life of Billy Bolton who was part owner of the building and whose father had built it.
