Eastern Maine Medical Center

Construction begins in 1925 on the long-awaited nurses home, thanks to a $175,000 gift from William Bingham II and smaller gifts that together meet the projected cost of $235,000.

"The (Women's Aid) Society has financed the upkeep of the Children's Ward, as usual."

Bangor Public Library begins to supply books and magazines for patients; later through the Hill Fund, it purchases texts and journals for the hospital.

The average length of stay is 15 days; the cost per patient day is $4.78.
