Description

Sgt. Horace M. White of Co. E of the Maine 1st Cavalry, wrote to his sister from a field hospital at Aquia Creek, Virginia.

White had accidentally shot himself in the foot. He wrote that he thinks the wound is not as serious as was first thought and suspects the ankle joint was not affected.

He wrote about various Maine troops whose enlistments were up and said, "I hope some of the copperheads will be drafted and sent out."
