Voices of Biddeford interview with Annette Addorio in June, 2018
Born in Biddeford in 1914, Annette Cantara Addorio graduated from Biddeford High School in 1933. She spoke of her memories growing up in Biddeford, starting in the 1910s, living through the Great Depression and World War II. Annette worked at some of the area's well known establishments including Saco-Lowell, Butler's Department Store, and 23 years at the Pepperell Mill, from where she retired in 1979. She was an active participant in the community, singing in the church choir, a member of various organizations, and a volunteer tutor helping younger immigrants learn to speak English. She enjoyed bowling and continued to bowl until the age of 101, when she had to quit, due to her "arthritis."
